Dear CMK Family,

We miss you already!!!!

We arrived home late last night from Manch Vegas with 10 pieces of luggage after spending two days packing up and visiting Cremeland, The Red Arrow Diner, and Puritan Backroom for the last time. The boxes start returning later this week.

Words do not exist to describe how enormously proud we are of what we created together last week at Constructing Modern Knowledge. We built an alternative world filled with possibilities and once again demonstrated the courage, curiosity, creativity, confidence, and competence of educators. Let the experiences you enjoyed in Manchester inspire many years of learning adventures for you and your students. Things need not be as they seem. You created evidence of what is possible when the learner is trusted to be at the locus of control. CMK 2024 was a powerful refutation of the cruelty fueling the latest explicit instruction craze.

A Tragedy - On the way home from Manchester, we learned that CMK 2022 guest speaker, historian, educator, and debate coach, Dr. Kate Shuster, lost her battle to cancer at age 50. We may all honor her life and work by visiting her Hard History web site and by teaching everyone we know about the critical importance of voting and civic engagement.
